Creator Spotlight: Women’s History Month
As part of our celebration of Women’s History Month, MSC would like to recognize the impact of women around the world who lift each other up through their activism and their passion for equality. The five creators and personalities on this list are just some of the amazing women who are making a difference and changing the way we look at women in media and in countless other industries.
The impact that women have on the world is seen on a daily basis by billions of people. The continued fight for equal rights, pay, education, healthcare, and countless other things continue to be a cornerstone of the women’s movement and prove that there is still so much work to be done. These women and every woman around you are doing all that they can to create a better world for future generations of women leaders.

Jada Pinkett Smith: @jadapinkettsmith on Instagram is so much more than Will Smith’s wife. She’s an actor in her own right, an activist, host, mother, and leader. Jada’s series on Facebook Watch, Red Table Talk takes up incredibly difficult issues and creates a space for open conversation and connection between the individuals on the show and those who are a part of the Red Table Talk community. The show takes on the task of discussing the things most people would tend to shy away from and does it with impeccable grace and humility.

Meena Harris: @meena on Instagram. You may know her as Vice President Kamala Harris’ niece and creator of the brand Phenomenal. With her brand, Meena started a conversation focused on women and historically underrepresented communities. The success of the brand has resulted in partnerships with celebrities, collaborations with other companies and organizations and is taking on the task of creating uplifting media to support the communities that need it the most.

Her acting, singing, and dancing in Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story has earned her an Oscar nomination for best-supporting actress and has helped bring attention to the diversity and talent of so many Latinx actors and crew members. Having played the part of The Bullet in Hamilton, Ariana DeBose is no stranger to being disruptive and fighting for big changes in the media industry. This is what makes her such a powerhouse in her career.

Busy Phillips: @busyphillips on Instagram is a champion for women’s reproductive rights. Busy’s public acknowledgment of her own experiences with access to reproductive healthcare has given a stronger and louder voice to the importance of women’s health and bodily autonomy. Having testified before congress about her experiences, Busy has brought much-needed attention to the importance of a woman’s right to choose.

Tess Holliday: @tessholliday on Instagram. Tess Holliday is a proud advocate for women, body positivity, mental health, and LGBTQ+ rights. The creator of the hashtag #effyourbeautystandards, Tess has made space on social media for people of all ages and genders to feel good about themselves and celebrate their uniqueness. In addition to the success of the hashtag campaign, Tess also uses her platform to destroy fatphobic myths and calls out her haters showing the entire world that she is so much more than her body.

Five Creators You Should Follow
Black History Month is the perfect opportunity for creators to uplift their audiences, highlight other creators and small businesses, and advocate for large-scale social change. Since the 70’s the United States has designated February as Black History Month with the hope that this month will inspire Americans and people around the world to celebrate and learn about history, racism, social justice, and more.
Focusing on creators during Black History Month allows us to bring their platforms to the forefront. Their voices are important and they add to the conversations that we are having in-person and online. As part of our celebration of Black History Month, we want to highlight Black creators who make us smile, inspire us, and teach us. Our list features creators across social media platforms and is just a small sample of the Black excellence that you can find online.

Her content is joyful, uplifting, insightful, and inspiring and will make anyone smile; even on a bad day.

Nyma Tang: @nymatang on Instagram is a self-taught makeup artist and beauty influencer. She is best known for her passion for fighting for inclusivity in the makeup industry and has called out a number of brands for the lack of diversity in their shade ranges. She is also a YouTuber and creates makeup tutorials, style videos, and other content that aims to inform her viewers about equality in the makeup industry.

Lizzo: @lizzo on TikTok. We know her, we love her. Lizzo’s music has gone viral over the last few years and now we can add her TikTok to the list of things that Lizzo’s gone viral for. On her page, Lizzo talks about her vegan diet, her music, body positivity, and mental health. Her platform is very large and Lizzo understands that her positive attitude and focus on self-love will continue to inspire millions of people around the world.
