New York City - The World's Media Capital
The MSC original video series, New York City - The World's Media Capital highlights some of the countless reasons for the city's global status as a hub for media industry thought leadership, business development, innovation and creativity for over 190 years.
With a commitment to advancing media and information literacy, MSC invited a group of first-semester graduate students at The New School University - School of Media Studies to practice their explanatory journalism and digital publishing skills as part of their STEM degree-focused work.
The students researched specific media and tech industry sectors within the larger interconnected industry and created short-form videos to share the deeper knowledge they acquired with the general public. Comprehensive in their process, students took advantage of being centrally located in NYC to visit some of the locations featured in their video reports. Here is a showcase of their final projects:

PROJECT LEARNING OUTCOMES
This project is designed to facilitate a range of learning outcomes including gaining insights into the media industry's size and scope, discovering companies and career paths in the field, practicing storytelling, script writing, branding, video and audio production skills and leveraging social media for global reach. Select final works are showcased on the MSC website and Instagram in keeping with our dedication to social good through a media literacy public pedagogy.
